WaterSound vs. WaterColor

WaterSound and WaterColor have a few things in common, which includes superb Scenic 30A locations that overlooks the jewel toned waters of the gulf and are both prestigious picturesque residential communities in South Walton. However, each one has its own unique personality.

WaterSound
WaterSound is actually two different residential communities named WaterSound Beach and WaterSound Origins. WaterSound Beach is a private gated gulf front retreat perched upon a bright white crystalline dune overlooking the gulf between Deer Lake and Camp Creek Lake. This stunning setting is home to custom-built cottages, magnificent manors, and distinctively upscale condominiums.  The main entrance has a huge Gate House that arches over an open tunnel like drive that serves as gracious gateway to the privileged world within. This classic colonial styled residential community is architecturally reminiscent of Nantucket or Cape Cod but with a much warmer climate and located in paradise.  The shimmering shoreline is highlighted by ever the changing hues of color from the beautiful gulf which ranges from turquoise to a glowing luminescent emerald green.  Raised wooden pedestrian bridges and extensive boardwalks span out across the dunes, some crossing over waterways and most all of them leading down to the private beach below. Four neighborhood swimming pools overlook the sparkling scenery. Watersound also has a state of the art fitness center with a Massage Therapy Room, a large “Puttering Park” for golf and a “Yacht Pond” to race remote control toy boats. Residents swim, hike, bike and also enjoy paddle boarding on tranquil Camp Creek Lake which sits right next to the gulf. Deer Lake State Park nestles up to the western edge of WaterSound with meandering trails, a raised pedestrian walkway to the beach, forests, wonderful wetlands and an abundance of “deer” that can sometimes be seen near the “lake” grazing on sea oats near the sugary dunes.

WaterSound Origins
Watersound Origins is nestled beside the Port Washington State Forest north of Highway 98, less than three miles inland from Watersound Beach. This preplanned residential community extends to the densely forested shores of Lake Powell. A trail crosses through the forest to a large dock for fishing and boating. Origins has a nine-hole golf course, a large community pool, clubhouse, poolside café, multiple parks, a kid’s playground and an Events Plaza.

Home prices at Watersound Beach range from $894,000 to $6,500,000. Condominiums range from $865,000 to $2,175,000. WaterSound Beach lots range from 412,650 to $$4,200,000. Watersound Origins has homes priced from $452,750 to $930,000.

WaterColor
WaterColor is located in the heart of Scenic 30A territory bordering the forested shores of the expansive 220 acre Western Lake and the open waters of the glistening gulf. The scenic county road crosses a narrow isthmus over this precious coastal dune lake from the west next to Grayton Beach State Park.  Spectacular simultaneous panoramic views include the glorious gulf adorned with sugary white dunes and the serene setting on Western Lake, which mirrors the vivid colors of the sky in the water below. Watercolor was deliberately designed to have an Old Florida Americana feel that is reminiscent of an idyllic, charming summer beach town over 100 years ago. Intimate small town planning is apparent in each unique neighborhood that includes custom built homes, many with wide front porches and enchantingly detailed architectural styles. The village center includes shops, a café, a fountain waterfall and the Watercolor Inn Resort with a Five Star restaurant known as “Fish out of Water.” There is a long, lush lawn bordered by a park and a flowing spillway that splashes down along the side. Swimming pools are scattered throughout the lovely neighborhoods. There is a Tennis Center, an outdoor amphitheater for concerts with a lakeside pool as well as an amazing Boat House on the water with a dock, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards for fun. Seasonal festivals include weekly concerts during the summer, and a Watercolor participates in the famed outdoor Telluride MountainFilm Festival every year.

Watercolor Home prices range from $824,900 to $5,795,000.  Condominiums range from $734,500 to $1,975,000. Lot prices range from $449,000 to $1,195,000.
