We’ve been talking about how to choose a Destin and South Walton realtor . Asking friends and neighbors for recommendations (see our previous post) is certainly a good starting point for choosing a realtor ; but if you want your home to sell fast and for the best possible price, it’s wise to dig a little deeper and investigate the real estate background, professional credentials and local reputation of any real estate agent you plan to do business with. The local branch of the National Association of Realtors, the Chamber of Commerce, Angie’s List and the internet are good places to start.
1.After your narrow your list of potential candidates, visit the real estate offices of your top picks. Ask how many local listings they have, number of sales in your neighborhood, average length of time homes were on the market before selling, and the average difference between listing and actual sale prices.
2.Ask for a sample listing agreement to take home and review. Make sure you read the fine print and ask questions about anything you don’t understand. It’s important to fully understand the terms of your realty agreement. Some people ask their attorney to review the listing agreement.
3.Note the commitment terms of the listing agreement. The typical listing agreement expires after a stated period of time. If the agent has not sold your home within that time period, the seller is free to hire a different realtor.
4.Meet the realty staff and spend a little time discussing home sales with any realtor you are considering doing business with. You’ll be spending a fair amount of time together so it’s important that you feel comfortable with your realtor, believe that she understands your needs and goals, and feel that you can trust her advice.
Doing your homework before hiring a Destin and South Walton realtor will ensure that your home-selling experience is enjoyable and profitable.
