Named one of Florida’s don’t miss 52 Amazing Weekends for 2012 by Florida Travel and Life, Digital Graffiti will turn the Emerald Coast resort town of Alys Beach into a living work of art on June 8 and 9, 2012. Now in its fifth year, the annual outdoor projection arts festival draws digital artists from around the globe, inviting them to use the town’s iconic white buildings, courtyards and pedestrian pathways as canvas for their art. Ocean Reef Realty is proud to be presenting sponsors for this years event.
Unique and intriguing, projection art melds cutting-edge digital technology with architecture to create a stunning, if ephemeral, visual feast. The white walls of Alys Beach homes, buildings and archways provide the perfect canvas for the animated projections of an international coterie of digital artists who are pushing illuminated art to new heights. Providing the world’s first showcase for this radical new art form, Digital Graffiti’s launch in 2008 set the international art world on fire. The annual festival now draws entries from hundreds of international artists and thousands of appreciative fans.
The pristine white walls and roofs of Alys Beach make the planned South Walton resort community the perfect canvas for projection art. Located on Scenic Highway 30A on the Florida Panhandle’s Gulf Coast, Alys Beach was designed as a certified green home community using natural, sustainable materials; zero-VOC finishes and paint; and xeriscaping with native plants. Supporting the town’s friendly community-centered lifestyle, charming walkways connect the town’s lovely Caribbean-style villas and courtyard homes to restaurants, shops, parks, swimming pools (including a 5000 square-foot saltwater pool), the beach and an adjoining nature preserve.
