Known locally as the “Kentucky Derby of Wine Festivals,” the Sandestin Wine Festival will toast its 25th anniversary when the first bottle is uncorked tomorrow. Held in the Village of Baytowne Wharf just 10 mines east of Destin, Florida, the popular wine festival kicks off Thursday, April 28 and runs through Sunday, May 1. This weekend, wine lovers from Destin, South Walton , Panama City Beach   and all along Florida’s scenic Emerald Coast will be gathering under the white tents on the Baytowne Wharf to sample some of the best vintages found in America and around the world.

This year, wine aficionados and novices alike will have the opportunity to taste and purchase a wonderful selection of more than 600 domestic and international wines. A comprehensive selection of wine varieties and price ranges from every major wine-making region in the world will be represented at the festival and available for sampling. The Sandestin Wine Festival provides an excellent opportunity for wine novices to learn more about wine and develop their palate while sampling a wide variety of wines. Wine aficionados will enjoy the opportunity to meet with winemakers and discuss the finer points of wine making and the attributes of specific wines. Destin wine lovers may also have the opportunity to acquire hard-to-obtain selections directly from the vineyards. For the convenience of festival visitors, all of the wines featured at the festival this year will be available for purchase at special event pricing in the Retail Wine Tent from Friday through Sunday.

Soft ocean breezes, live music and delectable gourmet treats entice festival visitors to linger as they stroll along the wharf. The Sandestin Wine Festival is just one of the many enjoyable events that enrich life in the Destin-South Walton, Florida area and make Florida’s Emerald Coast a favorite vacation and retirement spot.
